I graduated from University of Leeds in 2017 with a BSc in Physiology. I am currently studying for an MSc by Research under the supervision of Dr Jon Lippiat.

Research interests

My work looks at the use of novel synthetic proteins, known as Affimers, to investigate the TRPV1 cation channel. TRPV1 is expressed in nociceptive neurons where it plays a role in neuropathic and inflammatory pain, and is sensitive to exogenous vanilloids such as capsaicin, the compound responsible for the hot flavour in chilli pepper, pH, heat (>42°C), and various endogenous vanilloids. Modulation of TRPV1 is therefore of interest for its analgesic potential. My work explores how Affimers can be used to investigate ion channels, and incorporates proof-of-concept studies to explore the validity of Affimers as imaging molecules and drug leads against ion channel targets.
