Sonja Wild

After finishing my BSc in Biology and my MSc in Anthropology at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, I have now moved to the UK to continue my studies with a PhD at the University of Leeds.

Research interests

My main research interest lies in the emergence of cultural behaviour in wild animal populations and in particular how such behaviours are passed on between individuals. Using network based approaches, I am to investigate the relative importance of social transmission, genetics and ecological factors on the spread of various foraging techniques in a population of bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) in the Western Gulf of Shark Bay, Western Australia.
