Profile
I'm from La Paz, México. I graduated with a BSc in Marine Biology from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS) in 2011. Then completed a MSc in Use, Management and Conservation of Natural Resources from Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste (CIBNOR, S.C) in 2014. I joined the University of Leeds in January of 2017 with a 4-year scholarship from Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACyT) to complete a PhD in Biology by 2020.
Research interests
My research is focused on analysing the impacts of multiple stressors (particularly warming, drought and invasive species) on the resistance and resilience of freshwater communities in terms of their structure and function. For this, I am using a well-established amphipod system, Gammarus pulex, a native species in the UK that has a high leaf shredding efficiency and low thermal tolerance, and Dikerogammarus villosus, a Ponto-Caspian invader that has a lower leaf shredding efficiency and higher thermal tolerance.
