Project description

Around 13 China Scholarship Council-University of Leeds Scholarships are available for citizens and permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China who will be commencing PhD research study from Session 2019/20 for study in any Faculty at the University of Leeds.

Entry requirements

Applicants MUST first submit a research degree study application form and be in receipt of a Student ID. Applications without a valid Student ID Number will be rejected. These awards are only available to citizens and permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China at the time of application; Applicants must normally either be studying at a Chinese University, although there are a limited number of scholarship places open to Chinese Postgraduate Researchers currently in their last year of postgraduate study overseas. Applicants must agree to return to China upon completion of their PhD research degree at the University of Leeds; Applicants must satisfy the selection criteria set out by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) by completing the CSC Application Form and CSC Employer Reference Form which can be found at http://www.csc.edu.cn Applicants must normally hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to at least a UK First Class Honours degree and should be considered to be the ‘best of the best’ (eg successful applicants are likely to be in the top 5% of their MSc/MA and BSc/BA cohorts and already in receipt of prizes at national or international level). Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study. Applicants whose first language is not English must have already met the University’s English Language requirements by 9 January 2019 or be a current undergraduate student in their final year or a current postgraduate student at a University in an English speaking country. You should have a valid test result, which is normally no more than two years old by your official start date at the University of Leeds.
