Why Leeds?

"I chose the University of Leeds as it is one of the biggest multicultural universities in the UK with a wide diversity of people from all around the world. Also, the BSc Medical Microbiology course at Leeds is one of the largest teaching units with excellent facilities for research and all the lecturers are experts in their field.

Academic Highlights

I thoroughly enjoy the practical sessions of microbiology. The lectures are also great. You are taught by a variety of lecturers who each have a different style of teaching so you get a range of different perspectives on each topic. The tutorials have been a great help for learning about research writing - they help me to imagine what it would be like to work as a microbiologist. The lecturers are great and very enthusiastic: they help me to achieve my best. I also received a Faculty International Scholarship. I was really happy when I heard that I got this scholarship as it helped me tremendously and made me confident.

Studying at Leeds

The facilities are excellent; there are places for group work, a silent area, computer rooms, etc. I frequently use the library when reading journals, doing research and conducting group work. There are so many resources online in the VLE (Virtual Learning Environment service) so you can work from the comfort of your own home.

 Social Life

Joining societies helped me to meet people I have lots in common with and I love that there is an Islamic Society for Muslim students. Also, there are events that you can get involved in at the International Centre to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures. I would recommend the University of Leeds to anyone”
