Dr Ciaran Doherty

Profile

I completed my PhD at the University of Leeds in the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology in 2017, under the supervision of Dr David Brockwell and Professor Sheena Radford.

I am currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the same groups at the University of Leeds.

Research interests

My research is focussed on characterising the molecular association events of proteins involved in amyloidogenic systems, specifically the early association events in the aggregation of the neuronal protein alpha synuclein, a process shown to be central in Parkinson's Disease. I have used several orthogonal and complementary biochemical and biophysical techniques in this research including single molecule force spectroscopy and NMR.
