Profile

I am the Research Technician in Protein Purification for the Protein Production Facility. The Leeds PPF is a dedicated recombinant DNA and recombinant protein core Research Facility, found on level 9 of the Astbury building. As facility technician, I liaise with academics, research groups and users of the facility to provide assistance and training with our specialist equipment, such as the Hamilton Star liquid handling robot and AKTA Pure. I provide support to facility users and perform techniques and protocols as appropriate including vector design, molecular cloning, cell culture, protein purification and protein analysis using SDS-PAGE and western blotting. I assist with the day-to-day running of the facility, maintenance of lab equipment and upkeep of biological stocks.
