Profile

I joined the University of Leeds in October 2017 as a Marie Sklodowska Curie Research Fellow (Postgraduate).

I obtained a MSc in Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences from the University of Utrecht in August 2017 during which I undertook research projects with Dr Raoul de Groot (University of Utrecht) and Professor Dr Peter Simmonds (University of Oxford). I completed my MSc thesis with Professor Dr Frank van Kuppeveld (University of Utrecht).

Research interests

My work at the University of Leeds focuses on the structural and functional elucidation of negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus nucleoproteins. Viruses of interest include members of the Arenaviridae, Hantaviridae, Paramyxoviridae, Peribunyaviridae, and Phenuiviridae.

The project is embedded in the European Council-funded HONOURs consortium, a network of European universities, research institutes, and companies with the aim of training early stage researchers in outbreak preparedness for emerging and re-emerging zoonotic viruses.
