The funding can be used to support PhD level studies in the research area of the prevention or cure of cancer or heart disease. Please review our supervisors and contact them directly to discuss possible projects.
2 Mary and Alice Smith Memorial Scholarships are available for a British candidate who is single (unmarried) and lives in the United Kingdom wishing to undertake research into the prevention or cure of cancer or heart disease. The award will cover academic fees at the UK/EU rate plus a maintenance grant of £12,000 per annum.
Applicants must hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree. Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study; Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English Language requirements. Some Schools require a standard of English higher than the University minimum. You should have a valid test result, which is normally no more than two years old by your official start date at the University of Leeds.
