Bio-imaging and Flow Cytometry

Flow Cytometry

Flow cytometry is a powerful tool which provides rapid measurement of single cells in suspension.

The technology enables the measurement for multiple parameters based on fluorescent labelling of proteins or nucleotides.

Common applications include immunophenotyping, cell cycle analysis, apoptosis and analysis of protein expression.

Fluorescent Activated Cell sorting (FACS) can be utilised to purify or ‘sort’ target cell fractions for downstream applications such as clonogenic expansion, PCR or sequencing.

Flow Cytometers

The facility is equipped with 2 flow cytometry analysers, capable of analysing up to 13 fluorescent parameters.

Both of our instruments can acquire samples from single tubes or can be used for high-throughput sampling from a 96-well plate.

Cell sorter

The FACSMelody Cell sorter is an easy to use system that can be either run by researcher’s (after training) or by facility staff.

The system can simultaneously sort 4 populations of interest and has single cell sorting capabilities for downstream clonogenic work.

Data Analysis

The facility has a dedicated data analysis station available giving access to a range of software including FlowJo, CytExpert and Kaluza.
