Profile

Undergraduate – MBiol Medical sciences, University of Leeds

My Masters research project focused on using immunohistochemistry to identify expression patterns of specific serotonin receptors (5-HTRs) in the Drosophila melanogaster alimentary canal, and identifying any links between this pattern of expression during aging. This was under the context of ascertaining a better understanding of Serotonins role in feeding and digestion.

Research interests

Continuing with my appreciation for animal models in Biological science, my research interests focus on the mechanisms of functional recovery after spinal cord injury in the rodent model. Particularly, I am interested in revealing physiological and functional differences in neural circuits between acute and chronic stages of spinal cord injury, with the aim of identifying limiting factors or challenges facing recovery.
