- Thesis title: In situ structures of α-synuclein in Parkinson's disease postmortem brain tissue.
- Supervisors: Dr René Frank, Professor Sheena Radford, Mr Ryan Mathew
Profile
In 2024, I completed my MBiol in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool. During my 3rd and 4th years I worked in the Molecular Biophysics Group for my projects, using X-ray crystallography to solve novel structures of copper-containing nitrite reductases and to visualise the structural changes which occur during catalysis.
As a postgraduate researcher funded by the Cheney PhD scheme, I am working with Dr René Frank, Prof Sheena Radford and Mr Ryan K Mathew to utilise cryo-electron tomography workflows to solve the in situ structures of pathogenic amyloids within human brain tissue.
Research interests
- Characterisation of PET ligands for accurate Cryo-CLEM detection of all key amyloids.
- Solving the in-tissue structures of amyloids in human postmortem brain tissue.
Qualifications
- MBiol Biochemistry
