Michaela Agapiou

Profile

I joined the University of Leeds in 2016 as a PhD student funded by the BBSRC White Rose Mechanistic Biology DTP. I am one of the PhD representatives on the FBS Athena SWAN Committee.

Prior to this, I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester in Biochemistry.

Research interests

My research is focused on translational regulation in the germ cells of D. melanogaster.  My main project examines the role of held out wings, an RNA binding protein, as a translational regulator. I am also interested in specialised ribosomes in germ cells.
