Profile
I am a graduate of BSc Ecology and Conservation Biology (International) from the University of Leeds, with an international year specialising in Marine Biology at the University of Newcastle, Australia. My undergraduate thesis, supervised by Dr Josie South, studied the long-term ecological changes in the inshore fish community of Lake Kariba using functional trait and taxonomic analyses. This project sparked an interest in the impact of anthropogenic stressors including hydropower development and invasive species, particularly aquaculture, on aquatic environments.
Since graduating, I have continued my involvement with the South Aquatic Interactions Lab, recieving a grant from the British Cichlid Assocation to complete novel research on the impact of invasive Cichlids using a systematic meta-analysis approach. This project is in collaboration with Dr Josie South and PhD candidate James Hodson.
