Profile
Although a design engineer by background, my journey actually began studying a bachelor’s degree in Sports Technology at Sheffield Hallam University. Following which, I pursued a career in the automotive industry, working as a designer and design engineer for over 8 years. The automotive industry was an exciting and enjoyable environment to work in; however, it was not my original passion or driver behind going at university. In 2020 I returned to university to study a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Nottingham University, which led me to continue my academic journey further by undertaking a PhD at the University of Salford.
My PhD focused on the design and performance of lower-limb prosthetic sockets, how we can quantitatively assess the human-prosthesis interface, and how this influences human performance. The PhD project allowed me to apply engineering principles into a rehabilitation setting, working directly with prosthesis users.
In 2026 I began working as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds on a project developing a gait-training device for people with spinal cord injuries.
Research interests
My research interests lie in interdisciplinary research projects, which address healthcare issues through design, development, and user analysis.
