Highly experienced molecular and cellular biologist with expertise in molecular cloning techniques, phage display, protein expression and purification, protein detection methods (e.g., Western blotting), cell culture and cell-based assays.
My career at the University of Leeds comprises 12+ years as a senior research technician developing Affimer proteins as affinity reagents and diagnostic tools, during which I successfully completed a part-time PhD using Affimer proteins to study SH3 domain protein-protein interactions in cell signalling. My Doctor of Philosophy was awarded by the Graduate Board’s Examinations Group on 16 January 2023.
Previous to my career at the University of Leeds, I have worked in industrial R&D labs developing biologics and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical devices. I was involved in the development of an IVD medical device, which is now CE marked and FDA cleared. I have also been employed as a research technician at Newcastle University, which is where I was awarded my BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology in 2002.
