Profile

I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Calcutta and the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), respectively. I obtained my Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. After completing 3 years of a postdoctoral position at the Raman Research Institute, India, I joined the University of Leeds, UK, as a postdoctoral fellow. I work jointly with the School of Computing and Faculty of Biological Sciences in an interdisciplinary project on modeling the gravitropic response of plants.

Research interests

I am generally interested in modeling complex systems. My current research interests lie in the applications of mathematics, statistics, and physics in biological sciences. Currently, I am trying to model the gravitropic response in the plant’s roots. This project is extensively driven by a huge amount of experimental data. Our group is trying to achieve a general robust model of root-gravitropism, driven by the data acquired from experiments with the Arabidopsis plant.
