Research interests

I am an Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds specialising in Respiratory Physiology and Exercise Medicine. I established and currently lead the Pulmonary Exercise Physiology Research Group – a multidisciplinary team of human physiologists, sport scientists, respiratory physicians, healthcare scientists, and behaviour change experts who collaborate to improve the lives of people affected by respiratory limitation and exercise intolerance. The research group has two core aims: first, to optimise the diagnosis and management of exercise-related breathing disorders, such as exercise-induced asthma, laryngeal dysfunction, dysfunctional breathing, and cough; and second, to investigate the therapeutic benefits and disease-modifying potential of lifestyle interventions in people living with chronic lung disease.
