Profile
My research covers a broad spectrum of topics from urban freshwater ecology, green infrastructure, and ecosystem services to botanical pedagogy.
I am particularly interested in human-plant interactions, the uses of plants for the mitigation of the impacts of urbanisation, and the development of sustainable and equitable cities.
Research interests
My main research interests lay in the responses of species to urbanisation, ecosystem services associated with urban green and blue space, and validation and evidence building of nature-based solutions for sustainable urban development (Stroud et al., 2022). I am also interested in raising and enhancing the provision of ecological field skills and plant awareness (Stroud et al., 2022). As an early career researcher, I want to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, recognition of ERCs and PGRs within HE educational provision (Stroud, 2023), and develop plant aware student networks. I am a planning team member of Botanical University Challenge, a fun and friendly competition between teams of undergraduate & postgraduate students (Stroud et al., in press).
