Research interests
My research interests focus on how membrane proteins fold, function, and interact within their unique lipid environments, particularly in the context of the diderm bacterial outer membrane and the constraints that imposes. Specifically, I explore the roles of protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions, membrane asymmetry and the dedicated assembly machinery on efficient folding of membrane proteins and assembly of complexes. In addition to standard biochemical and biophysical approaches, I exploit methods such as cryoEM, large-scale bioinformatic analysis (including machine learning) and the use of modern structural prediction and design tools to understand these questions.
