Reimagining Ageing Network Launch

Reimagining Ageing is a new interdisciplinary research network, supported by the Horizons Institute at the University of Leeds.

Ageing, while inevitable should also be challenging, exciting, and stimulating as it is ultimately a privilege to age. Ageing can often be conceptualised as a narrow biological process but these conceptions of ageing need to be reimagined to consider how older people contribute to society and how we can all make the most of life as we age.

Reimagining Ageing will facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to co-create novel, imaginative responses to the global challenge of successful ageing, with a focus on reducing inequalities in later life. The network is supported by Leeds City Council, Leeds Public Health, and leading local and national third sector organisations. As a research network we will align our research themes with the Leeds City strategic plans to provide a clear route for impact and an opportunity for implementing change across our city.

Reimagining Ageing is offering colleagues from across the University of Leeds a network through which the narrative and experience of ageing can be redefined. We will officially launch the Reimagining Ageing network at an event on Monday 2nd October (12.45-2.15pm) to coincide with the International Day for Older Persons.

Speakers will include our co-leads, Dr Maria Kapsali, Dr Sarah Astill from the School of Biomedical Sciences, and Professor Anne Forster and colleagues from Leeds City Council and Leeds Public Health. We would like to invite all interested colleagues from across the University to join us and find out more about Reimagining Ageing and how you can get involved with the network.

The launch will be held at Stage@Leeds, and online via TEAMS.
