Prof. Stuart Egginton honoured fellowship for all his excellence
Professor Stuart Egginton has been honoured for demonstrating excellent career progression, professionalism and commitment to physiology and the Society.
Professor Stuart Egginton (Professor of Exercise Science, School of Biomedical Sciences) has been honoured for demonstrating excellent career progression, professionalism and commitment to physiology and the Society, of which he has been a member since 1986.
He has demonstrated leadership and innovation in physiology teaching and education through his role in Sport & Exercise Sciences (SES), for which he is Research Theme Lead (and Programme Lead for both Sports Science in Relation to Medicine and MSc Sport and Exercise Medicine). This involves facilitating internal and external collaboration initiatives, as well as supporting improved research impact in the field.
Professor Egginton said: “I am grateful to the Society for this honour, and hope to continue as an ambassador for this exciting subject for many years to come.”
He added: “I have been at Leeds for five years, and in this time the SES team has gone from strength to strength, with an expansion in research output, including recruiting more postgraduate students and an increase in staff numbers. The Faculty support for SES is in response to the outstanding effort of our members, which has been recognised as being excellent, in both teaching and research, by various surveys.
“The Physiological Society is the world’s oldest society (founded in 1876) dedicated to the promotion of the physiological sciences, which it does by organising meetings, publishing journals, engaging in outreach and, increasingly, influencing policy makers. It has been a privilege to contribute to activity in all these fields, but especially to serve on the Council from 2009 to 2013.”
