Physiological Society Oral Communication Prize Winners
Ewan Fowler and Sabine Lotteau from the Cardiovascular, Sport and Exercise Sciences group (School of Biomedical Sciences) have been awarded the Physiological Society’s Oral Communication Prizes.
The oral communications were given at the Physiological Society’s main meeting in Cardiff in July and awards are made on the basis of scientific content and communication skills. Ewan was the winner in the Cardiac and Respiratory theme with a presentation entitled ‘The β1 adrenergic blocker metoprolol improves survival and partially restores Ca2+ handling abnormalities in rat pulmonary hypertension’. Sabine was the winner in the Human and Exercise Physiology theme with her talk on ‘Statin-induced myopathy: a role for NO and ROS in enhanced sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+leak’.
This year there were many presentations of outstanding quality and content from researchers across the world, so it is a great honour for members of the Faculty of Biological Sciences to be awarded these prizes.
