Submissions open for the Black in Plant Science Research Excellence Award 2025

Black in Plant Science (BiPS), the only UK-based based research network for Black plant scientists, have launched their 2025 Research Excellence Awards.

The BiPS Research Excellence Awards provide an opportunity to honour leading Black and Black heritage researchers across the UK plant science community

They also celebrate the outstanding contributions to promoting the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within their research communities. 

About the award

In addition to receiving an award certificate, winners are invited to attend the 35th International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR 2025) held at the Bijloke Gent Music Centre in Gent, Belgium from 16- 20 June 2025. 

In collaboration with the Association of Applied Biologists (AAB) on behalf of the Multinational Arabidopsis Steering Committee (MASC), BiPS will provide award winners with free registration and cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Application process

You can find the eligibility requirements and conditions on the BiPS website. 

To complete the application, you’ll need to:

•    Upload a letter explaining the topic of your research, most recent achievements and why attending the conference is important to you and your career. 
•    Upload a recent CV indicating clearly any career breaks. 
•    Upload a support letter from your line manager approving conference attendance. 
•    Any pre-application queries may be addressed to blackinplantsci@gmail.com 

Enter the awards by completing the online application form and submit your entry no later than 23:59 GMT on 31 January 2025.
