FBS academic receives prestigious international award

We are proud to announce that Dr John Lydon, a long-time member of FBS, has been awarded the prestigious George Gray Medal from the British Liquid Crystal Society.

Dr Lydon has been invited to talk at the annual conference of the German and British Liquid Crystal Societies in Wurzburg, Germany in April. At the event he will be presented with his prize.

The George Gray medal is the society’s highest award, and is named after Professor George Gray, Kyoto Prize winner and the father of modern liquid crystals whose accomplishments include the synthesis of the first room temperature materials in the early 1970s that enabled the display industry to take off.  The award is given to a scientist for seminal research contributions of international quality.
