Number 1 for Employability

The Faculty of Biological Sciences now sits at the very top of the employability rankings amongst the UK’s elite universities.

The most recent employability data from Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) places the Faculty of Biological Sciences number one amongst the Russell Group of elite UK universities, which collectively is home to 395,000 undergraduates and 184,000 postgraduates, produces two-thirds of the world leading research contributed by UK universities, and has an annual economic output of more than £32 billion.

In 2015, 96% of the graduates from the Faculty had a positive outcome with regards to work or further study. Recently, the University as a whole has been ranked in the top 60 in the world for employability, according to the QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

Dr Kenneth McDowall, Pro-Dean for Student Education here in FBS said “The recent employability data is a reflection of the tremendous work the University and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are doing to support student employability, providing real added value to our excellent degree programmes.”
