PhD opportunity: Postnatal Physical Activity and Pelvic Health

A fully funded PhD scholarship is available in 2026/27 to pursue postgraduate research at the intersection of women's health, physical activity, pelvic health and applied biomedical sciences.

The project, supported by the John Findlay PhD Scholarship, will examine the advice women receive after birth, how they act on it, and how pelvic health issues shape their recovery journeys.

The successful candidate will work with women from a wide range of backgrounds, alongside healthcare professionals and public health partners.

The supervisory team includes Dr Camilla Nykjaer and Professor Dane Vishnubala at Leeds, alongside Dr Marlize De Vivo, Sheffield Hallam University and the Active Pregnancy Foundation, and Professor Julie Greeves OBE from the Ministry of Defence as well as clinical partners from Leeds PPHS and Leeds ICB (Maternity).

The deadline for applications is 8 May 2026.
