High-performance liquid chromatography – HPLC
Reverse-phase HPLC using organic solvents for analysis of small molecules, peptides and some proteins. Quantitative and preparative chromatography. UV and visible detection, including diode-array detection providing spectral information. High-throughput analysis of many samples using an autosampler. Data collection at multiple wavelengths (and using diode-array spectral data) help identify different molecules. HPLC can separate even very similar molecules. Here we’re separating methyl-, ethyl-, propyl- and butyl-derivatives of a small molecule. The web-pages of column supplier Phenomenex contains lots of useful information.
AKTA - Low-pressure chromatography
Affinity, ion-exchange and gel filtration chromatography of recombinant proteins to polysaccharides. The facility has an ÄKTA Explorer.
