Electron Microscopy Equipment

FEI Titan Krios microscopes

We have two state-of-the-art Titan Krios microscopes equipped with direct electron detectors (DED) for high resolution imaging. Krios 1 is equipped with an FEI/Thermo Fisher Falcon 4i/Selectris direct electron detector and is primarily used for single particle data collection (using EPU software) of macromolecular complexes (> 150 kDa). Krios 2 is equipped with a Falcon 4i direct electron detector and a phase plate.  Both instruments have Aberration-Free Image Shift (AFIS) and Fringe free imaging.

Talos L120C microscope

TEM used for imaging ambient specimens, equipped with a Lab6 filament and Ceta-16 CCD camera. For single particle workflows, EPU software is available for automated data collection. For tomography workflows, a high-tilt side-entry and Tomo software is available for the collection of tilt-series.

FEI T12 microscope

TEM used for cryo-EM and imaging ambient specimens, with Lab6 filament and Gatan UltraScan 4000 CCD camera.
