Replicates commercial outdoor facilities but specifically set-up to be a research facility. Built through the research organisation Centre for innovation and excellence in livestock (CIEL). The only research facility in the UK that is able to look at how to manage and feed pigs outside. The only facility in the UK that has electronic sow feeding for all its gestating sows.

This is the UK’s largest and most advanced facility for research into pig nutrition, behaviour, welfare and health and production systems. The National Pig Centre co-develops research programmes in collaboration with academic and industry partners to address current agricultural challenges.
