Athena SWAN

Policies

The University of Leeds work hard to be committed to Athena SWAN, we as a faculty have additional policies of support for all staff including flexible working, carer’s leave, generous maternity leave/adoption leave, shared parental leave provision and more.

In addition to this, FBS has developed the following additional guidelines and policies;

FBS Wellbeing Room – Irene Manton Room 5.94A

The wellbeing room can be used for:

•    Feeding babies (including breastfeeding)
•    Storage of and / or expressing breast milk
•    Rest for pregnancy related, disability purposes or health or medical conditions
•    Taking medication

The room is available to staff, students, partners and visitors.

For the security of the room and its contents and privacy for those using the room, you must book use of the room via the QReserve calendar.  Click “Reserve or Use Now” button. Then select “Wellbeing Room User” and book a time.

You will need to have your Simons Voss access card updated in order to access this room. Please email fbsdooraccess@leeds.ac.uk (with fbs.hr@leeds.a.uk cc'd in) to arrange access. This arrangement for access to the room will be suitable for most people’s needs, but should this not be the case, please contact Isobel Sinclair (HR Officer) in the first instance for alternative arrangements. If you would like to create block bookings (regular visits) please email fbshr@leeds.ac.uk.

Facilities within the room include a fridge, microwave, comfortable seating and heating.

Due to the particular requirements of breastfeeding and / or expressing milk and the need to respect an individual's privacy, this room is unable to be used for the observation of faith practices. You can find information about our Prayer and Contemplatation spaces on the university website.

Please also be aware that the University campus is entirely breastfeeding friendly and there are no restrictions on bottle or breastfeeding at the University.  In addition to the FBS facility, there are other spaces specifically available for bottle or breastfeeding which can be found on the Equality Policy Unit website.
